Drawing from post-modern, somatic, and release-based forms, Kara’s teaching practice prioritizes a supportive and community-oriented atmosphere. Between technique classes, masterclasses, and creative workshops, she uses this time to generate an environment that helps people connect to their practice in a low-stakes mentality. Her movement is typically playful, physical, and off-centered. Through sequences that progress from floor to standing, the body finds themes of cyclical pathways that move in tandem with momentum. Challenging how the body regulates its center of gravity; tuning into the functional modes of the anatomical body; grounding in our natural weight; these are approaches we focus on to help maintain an efficient practice prioritizing self-care towards the longevity of our moving bodies.
